migrations never working out right are really just a problem for people trying to grow a following (which is silly to attempt on fedi).
people who complain about losing 2000 followers almost never are people looking to socialize on the social network, they’re addicted to numbers going up.
as far as i saw in queer fedi, where servers are not long-lasting, people who just care about talking to their friends don’t even bother with migrations, they just remake a new fresh account, everyone who matters refollows the new one immediately.

The people that they lose are accounts that don't exist anymore ... This is my second migration and it has worked out great, no issues, imported bookmarks, block list ECT
It works well, I think most places miss some steps that would be not missed by a tech savvy person

i’m talking about big accounts who complain that fedi migrations don’t give them back all their followers…. if they won’t refollow after a migration they were probably very low-intent follows in the first place, just numbers on the counter, not really people you were meaningfully engaging with.
